Wheeled Gantry Cranes

Overview:

A Wheeled Gantry Crane consists of a horizontal bridge supported by two or more legs with wheels at the bottom. The bridge is equipped with a hoisting mechanism and a trolley system that enables the crane to lift and move heavy loads horizontally. The wheels on the legs allow the crane to travel along rails or tracks, providing mobility and flexibility in accessing different areas within a workspace.

Types of Wheeled Gantry Cranes:

Rubber-Tired Gantry Crane (RTG): These cranes use rubber tires and are commonly used in container yards and intermodal terminals for efficient container handling operations.

Rail-Mounted Gantry Crane (RMG): These cranes are equipped with wheels that run on rails, offering smooth and precise movement along a fixed path. RMGs are commonly found in ports, rail yards, and heavy industries for container stacking and transportation.

Portable Gantry Crane: This is a versatile and lightweight option designed for easy transportation and assembly. It typically consists of a movable gantry structure supported by adjustable height legs and is suitable for light to medium-duty lifting applications in workshops, construction sites, and warehouses.

Mobile Gantry Crane: A mobile gantry crane, also known as a self-propelled gantry crane, is equipped with wheels and a propulsion system that allows it to move independently. These cranes offer flexibility and mobility, eliminating the need for fixed rails or tracks. Mobile gantry cranes are commonly used in shipyards, outdoor construction sites, and other industrial environments where lifting and transportation tasks require frequent repositioning.
